Module 13 Chapter 2

The Oracle With No Memory

Distance changes a conversation.

When two people share a room, words pass directly between them. When one lives beyond a forest or high on a mountain, every question needs a way to travel. Every answer needs a way back.

A conversation with a language model has the same hidden geography. An application keeps the exchange. A network carries it. Computers receive it. Only then can the model begin its work.

This chapter follows the village's first attempt to speak with a distant Oracle. Elara writes the messages. A Scribe keeps the record. A Courier carries each question up the mountain.

The Oracle is powerful, but she has a strange curse. She remembers nothing from one question to the next.

The road to her temple will reveal how a conversation can continue with a mind that never remembers.
